February is here and the 14th is going to be here really fast. It’s time to start thinking about what you are going to get your Valentine. Chocolate and flowers are good but it’s predictable. Here are some unexpected Valentine goodies that you can get for your true love…

How about a crazy love bird. First birds don’t have arms and they aren’t shaped like hearts. Just in time for Valentines they grew arms to hug with and everybody knows that the universal symbol for love is a heart, so why not.

If hearts just aren’t your thing. Then I have some mini Love Ninja’s. These little Ninja’s decided that they are tired of always wearing black and hiding in the bushes at night waiting to ambush their opponent. They want to spread some love around. What is a better way to show your love than giving your love a Love Ninja? I say there is nothing better. Your Valentine can keep this mini ninja close by to fight off any boogie monsters that might be hiding under the bed at night.

And if you want to REALLY want to show your Valentine that you love them, why not get them one of these fuzzy love ninja’s. These ones really spread the love and if needed they really pack a punch. These ones can be kept close by to fight off the bad guys. Bad guys might suspect an attack from a ninja hiding in the shadows dressed in black but they won’t suspect an attack from a bright red fuzzy ninja.

Speaking of Love… The other day I heard that Orson had kissed one of his little friends. When I asked him about it he said that he had kissed her and it wasn’t even a Eskimo or a butterfly kiss. It was on the lips, he said. He continued to tell me that his friend told him that they were married. He said that there wasn’t any kind of wedding stuff, she just told him that they were married. He got really serious and told me that he didn’t want to live at her house, he wanted to live at our house and be in our family forever. I explained that he wasn’t married. He was pretty relieved that he wasn’t married. When I told the little girls mom, she thought that it was pretty funny that her daughter was trying to secure a husband at 4 years old.

We had a long weekend this week with Martin Luther King day on Monday, and Tues. was some kind of teacher prep day for the start of the new term. We didn’t do much, just kind of took it easy. On Monday I thought about doing something fun with the kids but they were being so good and they were playing good with each other. So I just let them do what they wanted. Helen started making a doll house with Arthur’s help, they were singing silly songs like… I have a lizard it’s name is wizard. Happy Birthday to me, I’m 103, and I’m stuck in a tree. I couldn’t interrupt them they were getting a long, sometimes that is rare.

I’m impressed with the detail they put into this doll house made out of a box.

I know this post is a bit late, I have sat down to write it several times but somehow I always get distracted and It just doesn’t happen.

After I had a few days break from sewing after the beehive bazaar I decided that I better get started on my Christmas sewing, I had some good plans but my sewing machine went on the fritz and I didn’t get as much done as I had hoped. But here are some of the things that I did get done….

This years Christmas Hot pads. I made a bunch of these for the bazaar and they all sold except for one set. So that last set got given as a gift for Christmas, because the bag that I had planned on making didn’t get made because of the sewing machine and lack of time.

I guess I am kind of cheating with this one too, I made this bag for the bazaar, it didn’t sell, Helen really liked it so she got it for Christmas.

Finally here is my real Christmas sewing, I made these ninja buddies for the boys. I am thinking of making more and I plan on trying to sell them, I like how they turned out.

What little boy couldn’t use a ninja buddy? You know for when they are in bed at night waiting for the boogie monster to come out from under their bed, their ninja buddy can be there to fight the monster off.

I knew the day was coming, we put it off for months and months. I kept telling Reed no, but it was just getting out of control.

My baby’s beautiful hair is all gone. I cried, I tried not to, I tried to be tough. But when Cedric looked in the mirror and saw his hairless head and started crying more than what he already was, I just couldn’t keep the tears back. Reed say’s that his curl will grow back, I don’t think it will. The curls are gone forever, his baby hair is gone forever. It’s tradition, that’s what I’ll call it, tradition. All my boys get a buzz at least once a year. But it’s that first buzz that seems to change my boys from babies to boys.

Orson got a hair cut too, he was the one that started the whole thing. He asked to get it cut, we usually have to fight him to do it. Reed couldn’t miss the opportunity so now 2 of my boys hair is gone.

Well the Beehive Bazaar was fun! Since I had never been to it I had no idea what to expect.

I really didn’t expect that it would be as busy as it was the opening night. I thought there wouldn’t be very many people that would want to go to a craft fair at 9:00-midnight. I was wrong, it was the hip place to be. Wall to wall people is what it was. Most of my Giraffe rattles sold in the first hour and a half. So I came home and made more and took them back for a few more to be sold on Sat.

I want to say thank you to the people that bought my stuff, I hope you enjoy it! It’s finally opening day for the Beehive Bazaar. I’m excited and nervous at the same time. I have a few things that I need to wrap up to be ready for set up tonight. Lately I have been sewing like crazy to get ready for the Bazaar. Since this is my first time being a vendor at a craft fair, I really have no idea how much stuff I am going to need. I only have a few more days and I have been sewing every chance I get. What I get done is just going to have to be enough. Today the kids watched way too many shows on netflix, so I could get some sewing in.

I am really hoping that all of you that live in Utah county will visit the Bazaar, even those of you that don’t live in Utah county, I have heard that it is worth the drive. Plan a day for the girls to go and do some shopping for Christmas. Just make sure you check out the radseams.com table. The Beehive Bazaar is on Dec. 3,4,5(click the link for more details) I have also been asked to show the week of Feb. 10th at the new store Patina Market, they just opened last week. I haven’t been able to get down to check the shop out yet but I think it’s a cool idea. They have different artists each week. If the Beehive Bazaar goes well, I am going to need feed back and suggestions because I just might try some more craft fairs. Now on to the yummy recipe…

I made this for dinner last night, we had my husbands family over. When I have made it before our little family has really enjoyed it. It has made it to the top of my list of favorites. Last night everybody here seemed to enjoy it too. Well at least the adults, the kids have developing taste buds that think that a box of Mac and cheese is the best thing there is. If you like Indian food, curries and such. You should totally give this recipe a try.

Fragrant Indian Butter Chicken
2 T. Butter
1 Cup chopped onion
2 t. minced garlic
1 T. grated fresh ginger root
1 t. chili powder
1/2 t. ground turmeric
1/4 t. ground cinnamon
1 Can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, un-drained
2 T. tomato pasted
1 T. brown sugar
1/2 t. salt
1/4 t. freshly ground black pepper
1 whole cooked rotisserie chicken, skin removed and cut into chunks or several breast of chicken cooked.
1/3 C. half-and-half
1/4 C. Sour cream(I have substituted plain yogurt instead of the sour cream, it was equally as good, if not better than the sour cream, I just forgot that I did that until now. I made it with sour cream last night)
1 T. minced fresh cilantro
Cooked Rice (optional)

1. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until onion is tender, about 5 min. Add ginger root, chili powder, turmeric and cinnamon; cook and stir 1 min. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, brown sugar, salt and pepper.

2 Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10 min; stirring occasionally. In another bowl mix half-and-half and sour cream and some of the hot tomato mixture. Slowly add it to the rest of the tomato mixture. Add the chicken; simmer uncovered for 5 more min. Remove from the heat and stir in cilantro. Serve over rice if desired.

yield: 4-6 servings

Look at those beautiful eyes

Don’t those eyes just say “Mom what are they doing to me?” Even with all the tape and tubes don’t you think she is absolutely beautiful. She has gone though so much! The surgery was successful, Yea! We celebrated by getting some take out.

Through reading blogs I have found that there are a lot of good people out there. I was amazed at the response my friend Morgan got when she headed up a fund raiser for NieNie. Morgan was overwhelmed by the support and donations that she got from the people in blog land. Today I discovered that there is this blog land support system of heart patient parents. They are really amazing people, my thoughts go out to them as they wait for heart transplants and finding surgeons and funding to give their babies a chance at life. Yet they stay strong and hopeful. Yesterday I ran into a friend that her 4 year old son had a heart transplant. I asked her how she handled it, she said she didn’t know how she really did it, but she never felt alone. I have already seen this, the day after my nieces surgery there are nice comments to my sister and brother in law from other heart patient parents. Telling them of support groups and warning them of some of the hard things that are still to come. I know that my sister and brother in law, aren’t alone. They have such wonderful family and friends that have rallied around and prayed and worried with them. But I think it is so nice, that people that they have never met, that have been though heart surgerys too have so quickly offered their support. It is so nice to know that during the hardest times, there probably is somebody that has been there and willing to help you out.

Today is the day that we have been waiting for. My niece is in surgery right now as I type. This last week has been hard. I hate being stuck here when my sister and husband are in California with their adorable baby, who has been waiting for heart surgery. (If you want to know more details on the story go to www.babyabigailrose.blogspot.com) All week I have had my sister her baby and the rest of her family, constantly in my thoughts. I just can’t even imagine what they are going through as they anxiously wait to know what the outcome of the surgery. My heart aches for my sister, I wish I could be there by her side as they wait. When my brother was in the hospital my family and I spent 5 days by his side and with each other, we camped out in the waiting room and we would take turns on sitting by his side. Those days were different, no flu epidemic they let a lot more people into the hospital, no rules on ages etc. Even though the outcome of that situation was tragic, I look back on the memory fondly. All my brothers, sisters and parents were there together and that made the situation bearable. I hope that Lisa and Jeff know that if it were possible we would all be there with them and Abby camping out in the hall taking turns by her bedside. I hope they know that all of us here in Utah are there anxiously waiting with them in thought. We are all praying and hoping for the best!
